Let’s Talk Leggings!

Do you know what season it is at the moment?!

That’s right….LEGGINGS SEASON.

It’s a real thing.

December – March is when I wear leggings the most. They are comfortable, easy to lounge in and so incredibly simple to style.

I get so many questions about which leggings I love and don’t love, so I thought it was time that I dedicate a post JUST TO LEGGINGS. I’m going to share my favorite pairs, why I love them, price points, etc….everything you need to know about leggings will be in this post!

(And if it isn’t, shoot me a message and I’ll get your questions answered!)

1.) Zella Live In High Waisted Leggings

One of my all time favorite pairs! I bought my first pair of these Zella high waisted leggings about 5 years ago and never went back to any leggings that weren’t high waisted. Overall, these are a great legging for working out or everyday wear. They are slightly thicker, are not see through and are a great quality that last a very long time.

PRICE? $54.
TRUE TO SIZE? Yes, I wear a small in all Zella leggings.
MATERIAL? 87% polyester, 13% spandex – moisture wickening Zeltek.
SEE THROUGH? NO.
COVERS BELLY BUTTON?Hits at the belly button – high waisted.
STAYS UP? Yes, these don’t fall down at all.
KEEPS YOU WARM? Yes.
REVIEWS: Over 5.7K 4-5 star reviews!
(I wear these both actively for barre & outdoor walks and for everyday with sweaters).
PS. Zella has a sister brand of leggings at Nordstrom Rack that are under $27. I haven’t tried them, but they have great reviews if you are looking for a more affordable option. You can find them HERE.

2.) Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

If you follow any other bloggers, you’ve most definitely heard them talk about these Spanx faux leather leggings. They really are the real deal and I wear mine all the time. These are a pricier pair of leggings but to me, they are so worth it. I’ve had mine for over 2 years and they still feel brand new, they suck you in, don’t fall down and overall are a great legging that you can dress up or down. I will point out that they aren’t for everyone though as they are a little bit edgier and different if you are just use to plain black everyday leggings. These ones have a little bit of shine to them (not too much) and are not “fake leather” looking at all. I have a whole blog post dedicated to these leggings that you can read HERE.

PRICE? $98.
TRUE TO SIZE? I size up one in all Spanx leggings and wear a medium.
MATERIAL? Nylon/Spandex.
SEE THROUGH? NO.
COVERS BELLY BUTTON?Goes above the belly button – high waisted.
STAYS UP? Yes, these don’t fall down at all.
KEEPS YOU WARM? They are not the thickest material so if you are going somewhere cold, they won’t keep you too warm.
REVIEWS: Over 2.1K 4-5 star reviews!
(I wear these with oversized sweaters or tops. I do not work out in these).
PS. Spanx has a sister brand of leggings at Target that are under $35. I haven’t tried them, but they have great reviews if you are looking for a more affordable option. You can find them HERE.

3.) Lou & Grey Essential Leggings

Probably the most affordable high waisted basic pair of leggings you are going to find. I get this question a lot and these leggings are the answer…. “I need a simple pair of leggings to wear with tops, sweaters and boots”.  Meet the best under $25 basic pair of everyday leggings. (Currently 50% off right now). These are simple, not too thick and are constantly on sale. I own all 3 colors and wear them all the time.

PRICE? $25 (on sale for under $13 right now).
TRUE TO SIZE? Yes, I wear a small in these leggings.
MATERIAL? 93% cotton, 7% spandex.
SEE THROUGH? NO.
COVERS BELLY BUTTON?hits right at the belly button – high waisted.
STAYS UP? Yes, these don’t fall down at all.
KEEPS YOU WARM? They are not the thickest material but they are cotton so they do keep you warm.

4.) Lululemon Align Pant

These are my newest pair of leggings and oh my goodness, I’m in love. I have heard so many great things about them, so when Lululemon reached out to me about a collaboration, I knew that it was time to try these for myself. I’ve been wearing them for about 2-3 days off and on (you all know I change my outfits frequently throughout the day #bloggerlife), but so far, I’m so impressed. They feel like butter on the skin, are not super thick so they are very easy to be active in and are SUPER high waisted. Worth every penny in my book.

PRICE? $98.
TRUE TO SIZE? Yes, I wear size 6 in these leggings.
MATERIAL? sweat-wicking Nulu fabric.
SEE THROUGH? NO.
COVERS BELLY BUTTON?definitely goes above the belly button – high waisted.
STAYS UP? Yes, these don’t fall down at all.
KEEPS YOU WARM? They are not the thickest material so I wouldn’t wear them in super cold weather.
REVIEWS: No reviews online, but great reviews if you google.
(I wore these as loungewear with a sweater top and to a barre class and they worked out perfectly for both types of wear).

5.) Spanx Look At Me Now Seamless Leggings

Another one of my favorite pairs of “suck you” in leggings that I own. To be honest, that is what Spanx are suppose to do right?! Well they work! These leggings are another great alternative to the Zella leggings except I would say these are a little bit tighter and suck you in more than the Zella ones do.

PRICE? $68.
TRUE TO SIZE? I size up one size in all Spanx leggings – I wear a medium.
MATERIAL? 94% Nylon, 7% Spandex.
SEE THROUGH? NO.
COVERS BELLY BUTTON?definitely goes above the belly button – high waisted.
STAYS UP? Yes, these don’t fall down at all.
KEEPS YOU WARM? Yes.
REVIEWS: Over 200 four star reviews online.
(I have the camo pair above and a basic pair of black and wear them both actively and for loungewear).

**Just another FYI….I wash all of my leggings on delicate and hang dry them all. I feel like it helps them last longer, stay stretchy and not fade.

This post was a labor of love and I hope that it was helpful for all of you! If I left anything out or didn’t answer one of your questions, please comment below or shoot me a message. I’d love to help answer them all!

Now throw on a pair of comfy leggings, drink that extra cup of coffee and enjoy your Thursday!

PS. If you are pregnant, these leggings, these leggings & these leggings were my absolute favorite while I was pregnant with Eloise! I also have a whole blog post on my maternity favorites and I talk all about the leggings in that post HERE.
