What’s On My Bookshelf

How many of us start a new year with the goal to read more in the next coming year? I know I do. I love reading, but finding the time to do so is hard. In the end, I’m always glad when I sit down in silence and read a good book. My goal for this year is to try to set aside 1 hour – 3 times a week to read.  (And when I say read, it does NOT include Vogue or Porter! Ha!)

Here are some current reads that are on my bookshelf, some I’ve finished, some I haven’t started yet.  I’m sharing my thoughts below if you need a little book inspiration!

1.) We Were Liars – I finished this one and loved it! We Were Liars is about a wealthy family that spends every summer together on a private island. Lets just say, there are some secrets! It was a very easy read. Warning….it can be a little slow, but hang on until the end. It’s worth it!

2.) Love Style Life – This book just screams gorgeousness! Especially if you love fashion, happy living & pretty things. I’ve shuffled through this book a couple of times and can’t wait to dive deep into it! I also love a book that’s beautiful enough to act as decor on a coffee table. This is one of those!

3.) Room – (Deep breath) This book is scary and hard to read at times but SO good. The movie came out in October and I have yet to see it yet but got goosebumps watching the trailer. This book is hard to put down and keeps you in suspense.  The story is told from a perspective of a 5 year old boy who is being held captive in a room with his mother. Like I said, slightly scary but hard to put down.

4.) Wildflower – I talked about this book in this post here and still haven’t read it yet! BUT, its on my list for this month and I can’t wait to dive into it. Drew Barrymore writes the book and shares stories and challenges that she’s experienced in her life. It’s suppose to be great!

5.) It’s All Good – Ok, now this is a cookbook, but it’s filled with pages that actually interest me to sit down and read it. The book is written by Gwyneth Paltrow and is full of raw, natural, unprocessed recipes that actually look incredible. The cookbook itself is just beautiful and I love the natural vibe it portrays.

6.) All The Light We Cannot See – I’m halfway through this book right now and I’m loving it! It takes place in Paris and portrays the life of a little girl who is blind living through World War II. It’s a beautifully written book with such a interesting story line. It’s a pretty big book (500 + pages) but easy to read!

Hopefully this post inspires you to read more this year! Have any good book ideas for me? Leave me some recommendations in the comments below, I would LOVE to hear them!
Have a fantastic Monday!
