The Velvet Trend

Let's talk velvet.
Do you love it? Hate it? Not so sure?
Well, say hello to the 90's style because crushed velvet is back on trend.
I have to be honest, I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it at first, but after wearing it more and styling it in my wardrobe a bit, I'm loving it. It adds a little bit of texture to your outfit, giving it a bit more fun & flare.

Velvet tops, sweatshirts, shoes and bags.....it's everywhere.
Like leopard, I would try to balance it out when styling it. Wearing a solid velvet dress? Carry leather accessories or wear simple boots. Wearing a simple cotton blouse and distressed denim? Add a velvet bag or a pair of velvet mules for a finishing touch. A pop of velvet in an accessory has been one of my favorite ways to wear it.

For example, this bag. I got this beauty at the Nordstrom sale during the summer with every intention to see it in person and probably return it. I was wrong. The more I wore it, the more I loved it. It's a great way to spice up a little black dress or a simple t-shirt and jeans. Not only does it add a pop of color, but the velvet screams trendy style....making YOU trendy! Now who doesn't love that?!

Remember the pearl trend I talked about last week in this post?! Well these shoes are my latest obsession. Worth every darn penny.

Have you guys heard of the Peach Box?! They design gorgeous watches and bracelets for women and men. I've been wearing this gold and black leather watch for a couple of months now and love the fit. It's perfect for a great fall arm party! They are giving you 15% off your order with code "ashdonielle" and you get free shipping with orders over $75!

Another one of my key tips when "shopping for trends" is to not spend too much money. Remember, they are a trend, they come and they go. If it's an accessory or pair of shoes that you can wear multiple times in the season, it's worth it. If it's a $200 velvet sweater that you will wear twice and then the season will change and it will be out of style...not worth it. Just a little something I've learned!

Happy Monday! Drink an extra cup of coffee for me!
