Capitola

A couple of weeks ago, Bryan & I escaped for the weekend to explore the little town of Capitola. We really didn't know what to expect but were SO pleased with our visit that we are already making plans to go back! Such a charming little town with some great restaurants, wine bars, shops and a gorgeous view of the water. It's a quick 1.5 hour trip from the Bay Area, so it makes for the perfect weekend getaway. If you live close, you should definitely add it to your travel list!

Rainy Day Wear

We got a little bit of teaser rain weather last week and I loved every minute of it. (Now it's back to 75 degrees!) There's just something about being bundled up in big blanket scarves and comfy sweaters all while romping around in my favorite Hunter rain boots. Seriously though, if you don't own a pair of these rain boots, put them on your Christmas list. I've had these black ones for 3 years now and they are just as comfortable and on trend as they were when I first bought them. They come in a variety of colors and patterns, including these adorable floral ones and these gorgeous burgundy ones. So many options, you can't go wrong.

Favorite Fall Beauty Products

It's been a while since I've done a beauty post, so I thought I would share with you some of the products that have been on repeat for me this fall season. I tend to stick to products that are easy to travel with, simple to apply and go well with the colors of the season. It can get tricky switching over to makeup that goes well with your "fall & winter" skin tone as I personally usually loose my tan olive glow and become a little bit paler. (Isn't it the WORST loosing that summer tan?!) All in all, I think I've found just the right combination of products this fall season that give my skin the perfect glow.

Sweater Weather

Every fall season, I'm drawn to cozy sweaters. Big chunky turtlenecks, lightweight cardigans, knit pullovers, the list goes on.  Finding a sweater that isn't too itchy or doesn't make you look ten pounds heavier can be hard. Inevitably every fall season, I buy a couple of different sweaters and find myself wearing one of them over an over. When I found this super cozy zip back sweater last week, I knew it was going to be a fall staple for me the next few months. Am I going to wear it on repeat?
Absolutely.
(Seriously though....who really likes to wear an itchy sweater?! No one.)

Fall Trend : The Suede Skirt

If you've been following any style trends this fall, you've probably noticed a lot of suede. Suede moto jackets, suede vests and the super popular trend of the suede skirt. It's actually been one of my favorite looks so far this fall because you can wear it so many different ways.
Still hot outside? Wear it with a tank/swing tee and booties.
Cold but not too cold? Wear it with a turtleneck or light weight sweater (my current go-to light weight sweater right now is this one here).
Cold cold? Wear it with tights, a turtleneck sweater and a cute blanket scarf.
So much versatility with just one piece of clothing, so much so that I've actually decided to add this piece into my staple wardrobe. A classic suede pencil skirt. Such a good idea.

Fall's Best Boots (all under $100)

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

So by now, you know I love everything about the fall season.
BUT to be honest, one of my favorite things about styling outfits this time of the year has got to be the amazing fall boot selection. I mean, you can never have too many. Over the knee boots, ankle boots, booties, riding boots, boots with a heel, wedge boots, the list goes on. So many different styles and colors, the options are really endless. I've already mentioned a couple of my current favorite boots in this post here and this post here but wanted to share with you some other great fall boot finds that are under $100 and are great neutral everyday boots to have ready and waiting in your wardrobe.

Mixing Neutrals

I was hanging out with some of my dearest girlfriends the other night, enjoying a good glass of wine and chatting about the usual...husbands, travels, shopping, jewels and clothes. Mid conversation, one of my girlfriends asked, "Is it still a rule that you aren't suppose to wear black shades with brown shades?" Can you guess what my response was?! FORGET THE RULES! Actually, mixing neutral shades of black, brown and grey is a go-to easy look. The neutral shades flow well together and you can add a pop of color with a bold lip or a fun accessory. I decided to style an easy look with a simple grey tee to prove my point.
Mixing neutrals is WAY ok and SUPER easy.

Monterey & Carmel-By-the-Sea

About a week ago, Bryan surprised me with an overnight trip to Monterey & Carmel and I couldn't be more excited. We go about once a year, as Monterey is about a 2 hour drive from the Bay Area, making it such an easy and fun weekend getaway. We've been many times and still continue to explore new places to eat while also continuing to go back to some of our go-to favorite spots. Monterey is one of those relaxing places where you can just sit on a bench with a latte and watch the water or walk the colorful wharf and sample some of the best clam chowder you've ever had in your life. Definitely one of my favorite spots for a spontaneous weekend getaway.
