10 Things I've Learned In My First Couple Of Weeks As A New Mom

I've been a new mama now for about 2 weeks.
Do I have it all down?
HA! That's funny.
 Not at all.
BUT, there are a few things that I learned, used, and experienced in my first two weeks that I thought might be helpful to share with some of you. Whether you are about to be a new mom, are on your third kid or are saving posts for the day when you decide to jump into motherhood, some of these little tips I would have liked to have known about before little Eloise was born. So in turn, I thought I'd share them with you so that you can be better prepared!

Eloise's Nursery

I'm so excited to finally show you a look into our sweet Eloise's nursery!
Decorating a space has always been super fun for me, so I knew that creating a chic Parisian inspired nursery was going to be right up my alley.
I'm extremely detail oriented (ask anyone who came to our wedding) so every piece and detail in this nursery was thought out, dreamed of and put into a specific place.

We went with light blush pink and white tones with gold accents to keep the look clean, chic and crisp. Starting to decorate a nursery from scratch can be totally overwhelming so, if I had to give you one tip for starting your nursery decorating process, it would be to pick the colors you want first and stick with those when finding pieces to fill the room. It makes it easier to decorate if you stick with a couple of colors that go really well together and think of a theme ahead of time. You will see that when you start to add items and put everything together, the colors will flow and everything will go together well easily!

Closet Staple: A Classic Blazer

Have you ever heard of a capsule wardrobe or buying closet staples?
I've talked quite a few times about closet staples or "must haves" items that should always be in your closet in case of a wardrobe emergency. These tend to be pieces that are neutral, can be mixed and matched with different looks and can be dressed up or down.

I shared a closet staple dress in this post here, a basic striped dress or top in this post here, why you should definitely own a moto jacket in this post here and why a great denim jacket should also be on that closet staple list in this post here.

January's Top Ten

I'm SO excited to be starting a new little series on my blog this year!
I can't take credit for the idea as my friend Brittany of Loverly Grey (if you don't follow her already, you should), started doing this little series at the end of last year and I just loved the whole process of it!

(PS. There's a fun giveaway at the end of this post so make sure you read all the way to the end to enter!)

Every month, I'll be rounding up the top 10 purchases from the past month through the analytics and stats of my LIKETOKNOW.IT account aka the top 10 items you purchased through my links! I'm sure most of you by now know all about LIKETOKNOW.IT (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I did a post about it here) but it's so helpful in letting me know what you guys are loving or not loving. I can see how many of you click on a certain item either through this blog or through my Instagram and I can see how many of you purchase certain pieces! It's a great tool.

Most of the top 10 items from January are still in stock so you can still snatch them up if you missed them!

Let's jump in!

Spanx Leggings Review

Besides "What nail color is that" and "Where is that shirt from", the most asked question on my Instagram page is "How do the SPANX faux leather leggings fit? Since they are a pricer pair of leggings, I get it. You really want to know if they are worth it or not before you spend the money.
Well, let me tell you, they are worth EVERY penny.

(Also before we get into it let me tell you, this is NOT a sponsored post. I did receive the SPANX Mama leggings c/o Red Dress Boutique but the faux leather ones I purchased on my own. I wanted to address your questions about them all in one spot so that you all had a reference to go to if you were thinking about purchasing them and just in case I can't get to all of your DMs).

What's In My Hospital Bag

Well, we are two and a half weeks away from meeting our sweet baby girl!
(That's if she decides to come on time!)
It's so crazy to me that it's already here.
I have to be honest, I was super nervous to get pregnant just because of all the horror stories I've heard about how terrible the 9 months can be. I've been SO lucky and I've really had a super easy pregnancy. I feel like myself (except for the basketball I'm carrying around), I've been sleeping relatively good (5 hours of sleep works for me!), I haven't had any acid reflux (knock on wood)  and overall I just feel great.
So I really can't complain!

Now that she could come at any time, it was essential that my hospital bag was packed and ready to go this week. Since this is my first birth and pregnancy, I'm no expert on this topic BUT I've done my research for the last couple of weeks and think I've got most of the basic necessities covered! I thought I would share them with you guys on here in case any of you ladies are packing your bags for the hospital as well!
(Even if you aren't, you might want to save, bookmark or pin this post for when you do have a babe and need help packing your hospital bag!)
